There is a type of Certikin Main Drain (sump) available to suit every swimming pool. Main drains are used to draw the base water for filtering and are also used as the principle method of emptying the swimming pool.  The HD33 is suitable for both concrete and liner domestic pools and features Certikin's unique grille design.   On both concrete and liner models, the grille is fixed in place with stainless steel screws for added safety.

We also have commercial main drains with a variety of flow rates to choose from - commercial drains are available as frame and grille only or as a complete drain with a body. On commercial or shallow pool applications stainless steel main drain grilles must be used.  A reinforced grille is available for commercial drains intended for use in shallow pools - please contact us for details.

When choosing sump size always assume that total flow may be directed to the plant room via the sump(s)  sump size should be chosen accordingly.  In normal conditions flow will be divided between surface draw-off and sump(s) in ratio: 70% Surface/30% sump  Skimmer or 50% Surface/50% sump  Deck Level.

Important - Main drains must be arranged so that there is no risk of bathers being drawn towards them or trapped there. It is recommended that on all installations, including domestic, a minimum of 2 x main drains are installed 2 metres apart.
